SOCIETAL IMPACT

When people gather around shared challenges, new solutions emerge. Congresses bring together knowledge, research, and diverse perspectives to tackle issues affecting communities and industries worldwide.

The 65th ICCA Congress in Panama demonstrates how meetings can drive positive societal change by connecting global experts, associations, and destinations to exchange ideas, accelerate innovation, and build partnerships. By bringing knowledge to Panama and engaging local communities, the Congress leaves a legacy that extends well beyond the event itself.

Food-Waste Management

ICCA has once again demonstrated leadership in sustainable event management, with its 64th ICCA Congress in Porto officially verified as a Zero Food Waste to Landfill event by The PLEDGE on Food Waste.

Building on the Bangkok Protocol on Sustainable Gastronomy, launched at the 63rd ICCA Congress in Abu Dhabi in partnership with our sustainability partner, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), and supported by LightBlue, this initiative marks the second consecutive ICCA Congress to meet the rigorous Zero Food Waste to Landfill Standard. It also reaffirms ICCA’s long-term commitment to transparency, accountability, and measurable impact in food waste prevention and diversion.

This year in Panama, we continue this legacy, offering practical, measurable ways for our community to reduce environmental impact while involving stakeholders in building a more sustainable events industry.
